"Non rompere, Silvio!" (Little Devil Ramblings)

Okay, okay, so I finally got around to watching "The Little Devil" (Il Piccolo Diavolo) from '88. Still can't believe it took me this long! I remember seeing the box at the video store when I was a kid. Roberto Benigni is a comedic genius, let's be real. The way he plays the little devil is just... chef's kiss. I mean, the "Non rompere, Silvio!" line alone is worth the price of admission! Seriously, I've been walking around the house saying it for days. Walter Matthau as the priest is PERFECT casting. The dude's got such a dry wit, and the contrast between him and Benigni is hilarious. Their dynamic is what makes the movie work, honestly. I remember that scene where the devil keeps changing form to confuse the priest - pure gold. Also, the dubbing...kinda adds to the campy feel, right? It's SO bad, it's good. It's not winning any awards for groundbreaking cinema, but for sheer entertainment value, and quotability? "The Little Devil" delivers. It's just a silly, fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. I'll def be adding some lines to my list. Anyone else a fan of this one? Maybe I'm late to the party, lol. Oh also, did anyone else think the ending was a little abrupt? Felt like they could've added another 5 minutes or something. Just me? Ok.
