Time of the Gypsies: So. Much. Going. On. (And Telekinesis!)
Okay guys, so last night we finally watched "Time of the Gypsies"... wow. Just wow. I knew nothing going in, just that it was supposed to be good, and it totally delivered... in a really overwhelming way, lol. Like, there's so much happening! The whole Romani culture aspect was super interesting, and visually it was just STUNNING. The wedding scene especially, with everyone dancing and the music blasting – felt so vibrant and alive, even though you could also sense something bad was brewing underneath. Did anyone else think the costumes were AMAZING? I want that headscarf Perhan's grandma was wearing! Perhan himself... what a character. Sweet, loving, and then he slowly gets sucked into this dark world. I felt so bad for him and his little brother. And the telekinesis thing? Random, but cool? Haha, I wasn't expecting that at all. It added a weird magical realism element that I really liked. But seriously, the way the movie shows how poverty and desperation can lead people into crime is pretty heartbreaking. My only real issue was... it was LONG. Like, really long. I think we paused it at least twice for bathroom breaks and snack refills, haha. And sometimes it felt a bit disjointed? Like it was trying to cram too many storylines in. But honestly, even with that, it's stayed with me all day. It's beautifully shot, the acting is fantastic, and it's unlike anything I've seen before. Worth the watch, just be prepared to dedicate an evening to it! Anyone else seen it? What did you guys think of the ending? I'm still processing it, tbh. Was it a happy ending or a tragic one? I'm leaning towards tragic...
