Okay, "A Short Film About Love" - Creeper Vibes but... kinda touching?

Just watched "A Short Film About Love" (Kieślowski, though uncredited here!). Okay, right off the bat, Tomek is intense. Like, binoculars-peering-into-your-window intense. Definitely thought I was in for a creepy-stalker flick, but it took some unexpected turns. I mean, the whole premise is him being obsessed with Magda and spying on her. The black and white cinematography really amplifies the voyeurism and isolation, too. It's super effective, gotta give them props on that. The contrast is killer - makes the whole thing feel exposed, like were all seeing something we shouldn't. But something about it got to me. The sound design is so subtle, but so important. Like, the faint sounds of Magda's life bleeding into Tomek's silent world. The way Kieślowski emphasizes the silence surrounding Tomek makes you kind of sympathize with the guy. And then, when Tomek finally tries to connect... ugh, it's just awkward and sad all rolled into one. I think, and I'm totally psychoanalyzing here, but it's more about longing than pure creepiness – although the line gets blurry. One thing that stuck with me was the scene where he manipulates the phone lines to make it seem like he is being harrased, then he calls her, and he finally speaks with her. It's like... super uncomfortable, BUT technically pretty cool how they used the phone lines as a plot device. Okay, I feel conflicted. Def not a comfortable watch, but definitely makes you think about loneliness and connection in a weird way. Anyone else seen it? What'd y'all think? Was I just too forgiving of the creeper vibes?
