"Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf" - Underrated or Just Plain Silly?
Okay, so I just re-watched "Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf" and I'm still kinda torn on it. It's so different from the classic series. Like, Shaggy as a werewolf? I remember being a kid and thinking it was the coolest thing ever, but now I'm wondering if it's just... too out there? And the whole racing plot is just bizarre, even for Scooby-Doo. I did like Googie, though. She's an underrated Scooby girlfriend, way better than your average damsel in distress. But here's the thing: I still find myself enjoying it! The animation is actually pretty fluid for a late 80s TV movie and some of the monster designs are genuinely creative. Dragstrip Dracula is hilarious. I mean, the whole concept of a monster road race is so ridiculous it circles back around to being entertaining. And Scrappy is actually tolerable in this one, which is a win in itself. So, what's everyone else think? Is "Reluctant Werewolf" a fun, silly detour in the Scooby-Doo franchise, or a misstep that's best left forgotten? And seriously, am I the only one who thought Shaggy-wolf looked kinda cute? Don't judge! Also, side note: did anyone else think the way they "cured" Shaggy was kinda... anticlimactic? Like, all that build up for that? I feel like they could have come up with something a little more creative, haha.
