Nekromantik: Okay, BUT Did Anyone Notice the Girl's Style?
Okay, so I just finished watching Nekromantik... yeah, that Nekromantik. Honestly, it was way less disturbing than I thought it would be? Like, still gross, don't get me wrong, but more... strangely compelling in a wierd, arthouse way. But something kept distracting me, and it wasn't the obvious stuff. It was Betty's clothes! Specifically, the scene where she's, uh, involved with the corpse (sorry, gotta be vague). She's wearing this like, high-waisted black skirt with a white, almost Victorian-looking blouse, and a thick black belt. And later, when she's just chilling and reading, she's got on this HUGE, oversized sweater. I know, I know, I'm focusing on the WRONG thing, but seriously, her style in those moments was actually pretty great! It felt very late 80s goth, but in a way that's super coming back in style now. I'd totally wear that outfit with the skirt and blouse, maybe with some Doc Martens. I'm not saying the fashion excuses the uh, content of the movie, but it's definitely an unexpected element. Maybe the director was trying to make some kinda statement? Or maybe I'm just reaching and the costume designer threw whatever they had lying around on her. Either way, I'm strangely inspired? Is that weird? Maybe I need to cleanse my palette with a rom-com. LOL. Anyone else notice this, or am I completely losing it? Also, side note: did anyone else feel weirdly sad for the main guy at the end? I mean, he was obviously messed up, but still... damn.
