Okay so I finally watched Nekromantik...

Alright, alright...I finally caved and watched "Nekromantik". I went in knowing exactly what it was, and...yeah. It delivered. I'm not gonna lie, I was mostly curious from a technical standpoint. Like, HOW did they even DO some of that stuff back then? The practical effects are... something else. Seriously, the scene where Rob (the main dude) is, uh, "enjoying" the corpse in the bathtub made me audibly gasp. Not in a good way, mind you, but the dedication to realism? Kinda impressive in a deeply disturbing way. I gotta give props to the makeup and effects team on that one, even if I'll never unsee it. Sound design? Pretty basic, honestly. It's mostly just squelching sounds and that sort of gross-out stuff which, fair enough, it fits the vibe. But I was hoping for something...more? Maybe some subtle ambient stuff to ratchet up the unease. They missed an opportunity there, I think. The acting is...well, it's there. Didn't exactly expect a performance worthy of awards, and honestly, it's almost better that the actors just look like regular, kinda dead-eyed people. Makes it all the more unsettling. The whole girlfriend/corpse love triangle is so bizarrely comedic in a darkly twisted way, right? Like, when she's clearly choosing the decaying body over Rob and he gets all jealous? That was... unexpected. I wasn't sure if I should laugh or feel even more disgusted. I think I ended up doing both. It's definitely not a movie for everyone, obviously, and I can't say I "enjoyed" it in the traditional sense. More like, I'm fascinated by the sheer audacity of it all. I'm not sure I need to watch "Nekromantik 2" anytime soon tbh. Anyone else seen this one? What was your reaction? I'm genuinely curious to see if anyone else went through a similar emotional rollercoaster. Maybe I just have a higher tolerance than I thought but boy, it's stuck with me all day.
