Back to the Future II - Future STILL not here yet! (sigh)

Okay, so I just rewatched Back to the Future Part II (again) and I still have SO MANY questions. I know it's just a fun movie and not supposed to be, like, realistic, but still! As someone who meticulously catalogs film adaptation differences, this franchise drives me crazy (in a good way, mostly). Mostly I'm stuck on Biff's whole plan with the sports almanac. Like, he becomes ridiculously rich and powerful off of it, right? But the timeline gets totally messed up and Hill Valley becomes this dystopian nightmare. Did he really think he could get away with that forever? Surely someone would catch on that he was manipulating everything, or that the timeline was messed up even without knowing the original one. And how did no one notice he was suddenly loaded after giving himself the almanac? It's like, such a cartoonish villain plot. I know it's for comedic effect but COME ON. And the future tech! Okay, so hoverboards are a no-go, apparently, and self-lacing shoes are kinda happening but not really widespread. What's the deal with that? Also, Pepsi Perfect? I want one! Did anyone else actually try it when they brought it out briefly? What was it like, just... Pepsi? Anyway, thoughts on Biff's illogical plan and the continued lack of future tech fulfillment???
