Okay, Hear Me Out: Is BTTF2 Underrated?
Yo film fanatics! So, I was just re-watching "Back to the Future Part II" (again, lol) and I'm starting to think it gets a bad rap. Like, everyone always talks about the original (duh, it's perfect) but I feel like the sequel doesn't get enough love? I know the plot is kinda convoluted with all the timelines and stuff, but isn't that part of the charm? Also, 2015 Marty's jacket is iconic. I actually got a replica for comic-con one year. And seriously, Biff in this movie is just chef's kiss. Thomas F. Wilson kills it. The whole alternate 1985 Hill Valley is so messed up, it's almost brilliant. Like, a little too dark for a BTTF movie, maybe, but still super compelling. Plus, Doc's panicked monologues are hilarious. (Sorry Doc!) I think the scene where Marty and Doc are in the cafe after Marty realizes that Jennifer is unconcious is one of the most underrated moments of any movie. I mean, they even reuse the same gag from the first one! Genius. Okay, so here's my question: am I totally alone in thinking BTTF2 is secretly the best one? Or at least way better than people give it credit for? I know the special effects are dated now (those hoverboards, lmao), and it's a little bit of a mess, but isn't that what makes it so... fun? What do you guys think? I am open to being wrong here, but I just wanted to share my thoughts. Oh, and bonus question: Who's your favorite version of Biff Tannen throughout the entire trilogy? I kinda like the super-rich, casino-owning one. So evil! But also kind of cool...
