Last Crusade: Still Holds Up After All These Years!
Okay, so I just rewatched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and OMG, it's still so good! Like, seriously, I know Raiders is considered the holy grail (pun intended, lol) of the Indy movies, but Last Crusade is a close second for me. The whole father-son dynamic between Indy and his dad? 💯 Sean Connery KILLS it. The scene where he's all, "I suddenly remembered my Charlemagne!" and uses the umbrella to take down that fighter plane? ICONIC. I literally yelled at the TV. I think what I love most about it is just how much FUN it is. Like, the set pieces are amazing (the tank chase??) but it's also genuinely funny. The bit with the Holy Grail choices and the knight guarding them is a classic. Plus, Alison Doody as Elsa? Total femme fatale vibes. I did think the ending felt a little rushed, like they just needed to wrap everything up but, overall, so enjoyable. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking but, I think, Last Crusade nails the adventure film formula. Sure, the effects look a little dated now, but the story and the characters are just timeless. Who's with me? Any other Last Crusade stans out there? What's your fav scene? Let me know in the comments! Oh and like, Spielberg is a genius. Just saying.
