Rewatching 'Batman' (1989) - STILL Holds Up, But I Noticed...

Okay, so I've seen 'Batman' (1989) like, a million times. It's a comfort movie. But even after all these viewings, I still catch new little things! This time around, it was the Joker's henchmen. They're not just generic goons! They each have such distinct personalities, even if they only get a few lines. The one in the purple suit who's always a little TOO enthusiastic? Gold. And how about Bob? "Bob, gun." Forever iconic. Jack Nicholson, obviously, dominates every scene he's in. That's no surprise. But something I really locked into this time was Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne. I think people overlook how subtly he plays the role. He's clearly damaged, and you can see him struggling to maintain the facade of the carefree billionaire. Like, when he's at the museum before the Joker attacks, the forced smile just doesn't quite reach his eyes. Brilliantly done, especially considering how over-the-top the rest of the movie is. Also, quick random thought: Kim Basinger's Vicki Vale gets a lot of flack, but I actually think she's pretty good. She's not just a damsel in distress. She's actively investigating Batman and trying to figure things out for herself. Plus, she has great 80s hair. Fight me. Alright, I'm going to stop rambling now. Anyone else notice anything interesting on their most recent rewatch? Or am I just obsessing over a movie from my childhood...again? Haha!
