Just finished 'When Harry Met Sally...'Okay, I get it now.
Alright guys, so I finally caved and watched 'When Harry Met Sally...' I'll admit, I was skeptical. Rom-coms aren't usually my thing, I tend to lean more action or sci-fi (as you know!). But I kept seeing this one pop up on 'classic movie' lists and figured I'd give it a shot. Plus, Meg Ryan was cute back then, gotta admit. So, the whole 'can men and women really be friends' thing is definitely the main question. I actually found myself thinking about my own friendships while watching. I totally get Harry's perspective at the beginning. It's difficult. But the movie does a good job of showing how their relationship changes over time. The diner scene??? Oh my god. I was dying, LOL. Billy Crystal is hilarious. The scene where Sally fake is something else. But also, it got me thinking, is it just me, or is Harry kind of a cynical jerk sometimes? I did not want him to end up with Sally after some of his remarks. I really liked the little documentary-style interviews with the older couples sprinkled throughout. It gave the movie a nice touch of realism. All I wanted to do was check their wrists for the watches, lol! My favorite of these was the couple who had been together since they were kids. It made me think about my Grandpa and Grandma. Overall, I enjoyed it more than I expected. It's not going to replace 'Die Hard' on my top 10 list, but I can def see why people consider it a classic. I can totally understand why this movie is still talked about. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10. Any other classic rom-coms I should check out?
