"When Harry Met Sally..." - Still Holds Up, TBH
Okay, so I finally rewatched "When Harry Met Sally..." (yes, I know, shame on me for taking so long!) and it's still pretty great. I'm Priya, by the way, always on the hunt for a good film, no matter where it's from. I think what I love most about this movie is just how relatable it is, even though it's been, like, a million years since it came out. The whole "can men and women truly be friends?" debate is still something I grapple with. And let's be real, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have insane chemistry. I mean, who hasn't had a conversation that felt exactly like one of theirs?! And can we talk about that diner scene? You know the one! Meg Ryan totally nails it. It's hilarious and, I think, makes a really important point about women and desire. I also appreciate how the movie doesn't shy away from the awkwardness and messiness of relationships. Like, their missteps and the times they clearly wanted to be more-than-friends but were too afraid? Ugh, BEEN THERE. Honestly, it's not a perfect movie. Some of the stuff about relationships feels a little dated, but overall, it's just a really charming and funny exploration of friendship and love. Plus, the Nora Ephron script is just pure gold. The witty banter is just fantastic! Did anyone else secretly wish they were hanging out with Harry and Sally in 80's NYC? I know I did. Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts! Have you guys seen it? What did you think? Am I totally blinded by nostalgia, or does it still resonate with y'all? Let's discuss!
