Is When Harry Met Sally... Too Real?
Okay, so I finally watched When Harry Met Sally... (I know, I'm SUPER late to the party lol). And wow, I have thoughts. I went in expecting a cute rom-com, but honestly, it hit me way harder than I anticipated. Like, I was actually crying at the end, which I wasn't expecting!!! The whole 'can men and women really be friends' thing is something I CONSTANTLY think about, and seeing it played out so realistically in this movie just... resonated, you know? I really felt for Sally's character. Especially during that scene when they're fighting at Marie & Jess's wedding. Like, the raw emotion between them was palpable. You could just FEEL how much they cared for each other, but also how much they were hurting each other. And then the New Year's Eve scene... OMG. When Harry gives that whole speech about how he loves her quirks and everything, I completely lost it. I'm a sucker for grand gestures, okay? Judge me! But my question is... does this movie hit too close to home for anyone else? Are there others who love it, and is there anyone who's like 'nah, it's overrated'? Because part of me feels like this movie is a beautiful depiction of love, but then the other part of me is like, 'OMG, that's scary'. Maybe it's because I'm currently, um, 'involved' with one of my friends and the lines are blurring! LOL. And I'm also curious if Nora Ephron based Harry on a real person she knew, because WOW that would be something. Let me know your thoughts!
