Lethal Weapon 2 - Riggs' Sad Eyes Get Me Every Time ðŸ˜
Okay, so I re-watched Lethal Weapon 2 last night, and while the plot is...well, it's a classic cop action movie plot, what REALLY gets me are Riggs' interactions with everyone. Mel Gibson, man! That opening scene where he's just COMPLETELY off the rails during the chase? Hilarious. But then you see those quick flashes of sadness in his eyes, especially when he's joking with Murtaugh about death wishes. It's such a brilliant portrayal of a guy masking deep pain with manic energy. I honestly think Gibson is SO underrated for his performance in these movies. And the Patsy Kensit storyline? Heartbreaking! I know it's a cheesy 80s action flick, but the vulnerability she brought to Rika and the way Riggs connected with her (even if the romance felt a little rushed, let's be real) made the whole thing so much more powerful. When she dies? Gutted. Seriously, I was TEARING UP. I know some people might call it over the top, but I find it so emotionally resonant. Also, let's not forget Leo Getz! Joe Pesci is comic gold. "Okay, okay, okay!" But even he adds a little depth by being such a helpless but sweet person. He and Riggs have odd couple chemistry. Some say the movie went overboard with the humor, especially the toilet bomb scene (which IS pretty ridiculous, tbh), but I think it works with the underlying themes of coping with trauma through laughter. Ultimately, Lethal Weapon 2 is just a really well-acted, emotionally complex action movie. It's not just explosions and shootouts; it's about loss, loyalty, and what it means to find family in the most unexpected places. Definitely one I'll keep coming back to for the performances alone. Did anyone else get as invested in Riggs and Rika? Let me know your thoughts!
