Christmas Vacation: How Many Times Have I Seen This?

Okay, so I just finished watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for like, the millionth time. And seriously, every time I see it, I catch something new! This time, I was really paying attention to how much Clark actually puts Ellen through. Like, yeah, it's funny when the tree sets on fire or when he's dangling from the gutters, but imagine living that. Poor Ellen! She's a saint, honestly. And speaking of saints, Aunt Bethany! I never really 'got' her before, beyond her being just old and clueless. But this time, her oblivious nature was just hilarious. Like, bringing Jell-O with cat food mixed in?? Who does that?! But it's so perfectly her. And her saying of "Is your house on fire, Clark?" after the tree is engulfed in flames makes me laugh every-time without fail. I'm also wondering how many times she saw a house fire when she was younger to have that be the first thing that comes to her mind!? I also noticed the subtle differences in Audrey and Rusty. Like, I always just saw them as 'the kids' but they got a new Rusty in between movies, right? They didn't even try to pretend it was the same actor! And the part with Clark getting stuck in the attic. That scene is an absolute classic, but this time I was thinking about how dusty and hot it must have been up there, poor guy! Anyway, I'm sure I'll be watching it again sometime before Christmas is actually over. What's your favorite part? And have you ever noticed anything new after multiple viewings?
