Licence to Kill: Was Bond Kinda...The Villain?

Okay, so I just re-watched Licence to Kill, and while I always enjoy a good revenge flick, this one kinda made me uncomfortable? Like, Bond goes completely rogue after they mess up Felix and Della (RIP Della, way too soon!). I get it, they're his friends, but he's basically dismantling Sanchez's whole operation just for revenge? It's not like he's saving the world or anything this time, which is usually Bond's justification for, y'know, all the property damage and casual murder. And let's be real, the methods Bond uses are kinda...questionable. He's playing everyone against each other, double-crossing people left and right, and even using Pam Bouvier (who, tbh, I kinda liked) as bait. He's got that whole 'ends justify the means' thing going on, but the means are super shady this time. Like, remember when he blows up the tanker trucks? That's a LOT of collateral damage for a personal vendetta. My theory is that Licence to Kill is secretly about how far Bond will go when his emotions are involved. Like, normally, he's this suave, controlled agent, but this movie shows him completely unhinged. It's almost like he's becoming the very criminals he usually takes down? Maybe that's why it was so different from the other Bond movies? I dunno, maybe I'm overthinking it. But something about Bond being so driven by pure rage just felt...off. It made me question if I was actually supposed to be rooting for him the whole time. Anyone else feel this way, or am I just being too sensitive lol?
