Whoa! My Kids Actually Liked Bill & Ted!
Okay, so I showed my kids "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" last night, fully expecting them to roll their eyes and declare it 'so boomer,' haha. I mean, it's a total blast from my past, and I still think it's hilarious, but I figured the humor wouldn't translate. Boy, was I wrong! They were cracking up, especially at Socrates yelling about "Socratic method!" and, of course, Napoleon running wild at Waterloo. I was a little worried about some of the historical figures stuff going over their heads, but they actually asked some really interesting questions about Joan of Arc and Billy the Kid. It turned into a mini-history lesson, which was totally unexpected! Plus, the whole message about being excellent to each other is just... well, excellent! We need more of that, right? I did fast forward through a tiny bit when they're hypnotized and doing silly things at the mall—just felt a little too suggestive for the younger one. But overall, it was a surprisingly fun family movie night, and now they keep saying "Be excellent to each other!" It's kinda cute, I can't lie. Anyone else introduce their kids to Bill & Ted? What did they think?
