Driving Miss Daisy: Surprisingly Sweet (but a lil' slow)

Okay, so I finally watched "Driving Miss Daisy" after seeing it on like, every "feel good movies" list ever. And yeah, it was definitely heartwarming, but also... kind of a slow burn? Like, it picks up but you gotta commit at the start, lol. Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman were amazing, though. Like, Oscar-worthy amazing. You totally buy their awkward friendship. It's kinda cool seeing how their relationship changes over time, especially considering, you know, the whole racial dynamic and everything. There's this one scene that stuck with me, where they're driving and Daisy is like, finally admitting she sees Hoke as a friend. It felt really earned, and it was nice to see her drop the whole 'stuffy rich lady' act for a sec. Honestly, I think what makes the movie good is that it's understated. It's not trying too hard to be dramatic or preachy, it's just showing you these two people existing and eventually finding common ground. It's not exactly an action-packed thrill ride, guys, hahaha. So maybe not the best choice if you're, like, super hyped and needing something to keep your heart rate up. BUT if you're in the mood for something gentle and thought-provoking (and have the patience for a plot that unfolds kinda slowly!), I'd say give it a shot. I'm glad I watched it, even if I did almost fall asleep during the first 20 minutes, oops. 😂 Oh, and I still don't know who directed it. Not that it really matters, but now I'm curious!
