"If you build it, they will come...and I will cry." - Field of Dreams Thoughts

Okay, so I finally got around to watching Field of Dreams (1989). I know, I know, I'm super late to the party. Everyone always raves about it, and I gotta say, it mostly lived up to the hype. I was definitely tearing up at the end! Kevin Costner is so good at playing that kind of earnest, good-guy role, it's almost annoying, haha. But it works! The whole premise is just wonderfully absurd, right? Hearing a voice in your cornfield telling you to build a baseball diamond? I'd probably call a therapist, not a construction crew. But Ray just goes with it, and that blind faith is kind of what makes the whole movie so magical. I especially loved the scenes with James Earl Jones as Terence Mann. His speech about baseball being a constant in American life? Chills! And Amy Madigan as Annie, Ray's wife, was a rockstar. Seriously, she's so supportive and believes in him, even when he's clearly losing it a little. That scene where she defends the book in the school board meeting? Amazing! I did think some parts felt a little... convenient? Like, of course, Ray just happens to find Archibald 'Moonlight' Graham right when he needs him. And the baseball players showing up out of nowhere? Very fairytale-esque. But honestly, I was so invested in the emotional journey that I was willing to forgive those plot contrivances. Overall, I get why this movie is so beloved. It's a heartwarming, nostalgic story about family, dreams, and second chances. Plus, who doesn't love a good baseball movie? Definitely worth a watch, just be prepared to grab the tissues!
