Anyone else notice the WAY TOO MANY coincidences in 'The 'Burbs'?
Okay, fellow 'Burbs' fanatics! I've seen this movie like, a million times (it's my go-to comfort flick, sue me!), and I just keep noticing MORE stuff. Like, how PERFECTLY everything lines up to make the Klopeks look sinister. I'm starting to think maybe Ray, Art, and Mark weren't totally crazy, even if they were being major busybodies. For instance, the dog bones. That's a HUGE coincidence, right? That they just happen to be digging in the backyard THE DAY after Walter disappears AND they are disposing of what looks like bone matter in pillow cases? I mean, come ON. Plus the ambulance situation. Too convenient. And don't even get me STARTED on the drill! I know it's supposed to be comedy, but the more I watch this film, the more I think the Klopeks were definitely up to something nefarious. Or at least... deeply unsettling. What do you guys think? Am I giving the movie too much credit? Like, are we just supposed to laugh at the suburban paranoia, or is there something legit shady going on? I still laugh every time I see it, but I'm starting to actually believe that the Klopeks were up to no good. And who cares about Walter. He was the worst, always snooping around. Poor pooch. Last question! Did anybody else always think Dr. Werner Klopek looked like a mix between a vampire and a used car salesmen? Just me maybe? Okay cool. Anyway, chime in with your own observations! I could talk about 'The 'Burbs' all day long.
