Uncle Buck's Flaming Face: Still Holds Up!

Okay, so I know it's a comedy, not exactly the type of flick I usually geek out about (give me explosions and people jumping off buildings any day), but I gotta give it to Uncle Buck. That movie is FUNNY. John Candy, RIP, was a freakin' legend. The whole premise is simple – slob uncle babysitting – but the execution is gold. I mean, the scene where he grills that comically oversized pancake? Classic. And let's not forget the face-off with Bug, Tia's creepazoid boyfriend. The way Buck handles that dude is hilarious and low-key intimidating. Burning his face with an ashtray ember?! That's pretty dark for a family movie lol. Definitely a memorable "stunt" if you ask me. Not practical per se, but creatively brutal. What really gets me is the heart of the movie too. Buck's not perfect, he screws up a lot, but he genuinely cares about those kids. You see him evolving, trying to be a better guardian. It's a nice balance to all the goofy stuff. I'm not saying it's groundbreaking cinema, but it's a solid feel-good movie that still makes me laugh, even after seeing it a million times. Anyone else still crack up at Buck trying to get that mole off Miles' face?? Honestly, sometimes you just need a break from the high-octane stuff and Uncle Buck is the perfect antidote. Plus, any movie that involves destroying a jerk's car with a power drill gets a thumbs up from me. Wish I knew who directed it because damn that was good!
