"Uncle Buck" - Still funny... but is it totally family-friendly?

Okay, so "Uncle Buck" is like, a total classic, right? I grew up watching it and just remember laughing my head off. John Candy is a LEGEND, and the whole thing is just so quotable. “Here’s a quarter. Go downtown and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face!” Seriously, how can you not love that? But I was rewatching it the other night, and I started thinking... I mean, Buck is kinda irresponsible, isn't he? He's smoking around the kids, he’s definitely not setting a good example, and let's not even talk about the whole Chanice situation (poor girl!). As a mom now, I'm wondering if I'm looking at the movie differently than I did as a kid. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's hilarious when he jams that plunger on Chantel's boyfriend's face or when he's struggling to make pancakes. And I think Tia is relatable as a teen. But, are there parts that are just too much? Like, would you show it to your younger kids? Mine are 8 and 10, and I'm on the fence. What do you guys think? Am I being overly sensitive, or is Buck Russell a little more problematic than I remembered?
