See No Evil, Hear No Evil - Thoughts?

Okay, so the other night my husband and I were flipping through channels, looking for something, ANYTHING, that wouldn't make the kids scream 'TOO SCARY!' and we landed on See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. I remember seeing bits and pieces of this flick ages ago, and honestly, I'd kind of forgotten about it. My question is, did anyone else think it was... surprisingly funny and kinda clever? I mean, obviously, it relies heavily on physical comedy and some stereotypes, but the way they played off each other – Pryor being completely deaf and Wilder being blind, trying to solve a murder they technically witnessed – I found myself genuinely laughing. Especially the scene where they're trying to drive the car, omg! I know some people are probably going to say it's dated or offensive, and I can see where they're coming from but overall I found it well done. Did anyone else find themselves enjoying it more than they expected, or am I just losing it in my old age? I'm curious to hear if others have seen recenty and what they thought. Was I just in a really good mood that night, or is it a genuinely funny movie that holds up (ish)? Maybe I'll have to watch Silver Streak next!
