K-9...Okay, Jerry Lee Stole My Heart a LITTLE!

Okay, so I just watched K-9 (1989) and I have... complicated feelings, lol. Like, the whole 'buddy cop' thing with a DOG is kinda cheesy, right? But Jerry Lee (aka Officer Lewis, lol)??? That dog's face just kills me. He's so expressive! There's this one scene where Dooley (James Belushi) is yelling at him for messing something up, and Jerry Lee just gives him this look of pure betrayal... I almost cried, I swear! I'm such a softie for animals, ugh. Belushi is, well, Belushi. He's got that whole 'grumpy but secretly has a heart of gold' thing going on. The drug dealer subplot was whatever. I honestly forgot who even played the villain, which says a lot, haha. But the scenes of Dooley and Jerry Lee bonding? Those were gold. I loved the scene where Jerry Lee stole Dooley's donut! I’ve been there! I will say, the ending was a BIT predictable, but still, seeing Dooley so protective of Jerry Lee during the shootout… sniffles. Maybe I'm just easily manipulated, but films about dogs and humans get to me every time. It was a fairly basic action film, but those moments made it watchable. And as a dog lover, Jerry Lee might be my new favorite canine actor. Overall? A solid 'feel-good (mostly)' watch when you need a bit of a laugh and are happy to see some dog-related antics. Nothing earth-shattering, but definitely heartwarming elements in there. Would recommend when you need something easy to have on.
