Anyone remember Knick Knack? Pixar before they were PIXAR!
Okay, so last night Sarah and I were deep-diving into old Pixar shorts (as you do, lol) and we watched Knick Knack. I hadn't seen it in YEARS, and Sarah had never seen it at all! I forgot how...weird it is? Like, charmingly weird, but still. For those who don't know, it's about this snowman stuck in a snowglobe who wants to get out and join all the other souvenirs who are living their best sunny lives. The whole thing is pretty silent, but the way he keeps trying to break free, fueled by the pin-up girl statue, is hilarious. Also, the sheer 80s-ness of it all is just chef's kiss. The way the characters are animated is so simple, but effective. I'm so glad it's still around on Disney+ now! I will say, though, I remember the 'updated' version where they changed the pin-up statue. It's probably for the best because the original was... definitely a product of its time, haha. Did anyone else feel like it lost a little something when they swapped it out? Or am I just being nostalgic? Anyway, recommend checking it out if you want a short, kinda goofy, and very Pixar-y piece of movie history!
