Anyone else think 'Gods Must Be Crazy II' is underrated? (Hear me out!)

Okay, so I know The Gods Must Be Crazy II (1989) doesn't get the love the original did (and rightly so, the first one was practically a cinematic lightning bolt!). But I rewatched it the other night, and I gotta say, it's still got that goofy charm. Xixo's back, being Xixo, trying to rescue his kids from those poachers. Remember that scene where he's trying to 'drive' that truck? Pure physical comedy gold. I swear, it's like watching a live-action Looney Tunes cartoon. What I always appreciated was the blend of slapstick with those genuine moments of connection between Xixo and the 'civilized' world. Those soldiers, you know the one's who get lost - they were pretty funny. And the lady scientist was pretty cute too! The whole thing felt like a less cynical version of some 'fish out of water' comedies we see now. Less preachy, more just, well, funny! But it lacked the magic of the first movie, for sure. Maybe it's the Gen X nostalgia talking, but I think it's worth a rewatch if you're in the mood for something lighthearted. I just miss those simple comedies where the jokes didn't rely on toilet humor or political agendas, ya know? What are your thoughts? Am I totally off base here, or does anyone else have a soft spot for Xixo's second adventure?
