Okay, "Vampire's Kiss"... WHAT was that?!

Alright guys, so last night we watched "Vampire's Kiss" (thanks for the 'recommendation,' Mark, lol). I'm still trying to process… Nic Cage is next level in this. I knew he could be... extra, but wow. The scene where he's screaming about filing and just completely losing it at his secretary Alva? I actually felt bad for her, even though I was laughing. Like, the pasta scene? I can't even explain it. Was he acting crazy or did he actually think he was turning into a vampire? I Honestly couldn't tell. The whole thing was so bizarre. Like, the storyline with the possible vampire woman was so random and then just fizzled out? And then the psychiatrist? What was the point of any of it? I think it maybe would have been better if the director focused on the abuse he was putting on Alva. I was almost more disturbed by seeing that than I was by the idea of him drinking pigeon blood. I mean, okay, that was pretty bad. I'm not saying it was good exactly, but I also couldn't look away. It's like a train wreck, you know? And Cage's performance is so committed, even when it makes absolutely NO SENSE. I looked up the reviews after because I thought I was losing my mind, but apparently, it's a cult classic, but I don't know. I think there were some funny moments, but I also feel like it was, at times, a little exploitative? I don't know, maybe I'm just being too sensitive. So, yeah… "Vampire's Kiss". Thoughts? Am I the only one who feels so conflicted about it? Was the whole thing problematic or am I overreacting? Also, Mark, you owe us a pallet cleanser after that one, maybe something with puppies this time.
