Okay, I'm Officially Scarred by Vampire's Kiss (Nic Cage is WILD)
Okay, I just watched Vampire's Kiss and I'm not sure what I just witnessed, lol. I went in expecting a funny vampire movie, like, maybe a little spooky. But wow, was I wrong. Nic Cage is absolutely INSANE in this. Like, dial it up to eleven... then break the dial. I kinda get why some peeps find it annoying, but honestly, I was morbidly fascinated the entire time. The scene where he's screaming the alphabet? Iconic. I can't even explain WHY it's iconic, it just IS. Seriously though, his character, Peter Loew, is just a trainwreck of a human being even BEFORE he thinks he's turning into a vampire. The way he treats his secretary, Alva (played by Maria Conchita Alonso), is genuinely awful and uncomfortable to watch. The whole thing with him demanding she find a specific contract had me yelling at my TV. It's not really fun to watch that part, y'know? Speaking of uncomfortable, the whole 'vampire bite' thing is super ambiguous. Like, did it actually happen? Is he losing his mind? Is it a metaphor for something? Honestly, I have no clue and maybe that's the point? It's messy and weird, and definitely not a slick Hollywood vampire flick. I'm still trying to figure out if it was a good movie, a bad movie, or just... a movie. Overall, I wouldn't exactly recommend it to everyone. It's definitely not for the faint of heart or anyone looking for a lighthearted watch. But if you're a fan of Nic Cage going completely bonkers and don't mind some seriously awkward moments, Vampire's Kiss is... an experience. Just be prepared to feel a little disturbed afterwards. I'm gonna need a palate cleanser after that one.
