She-Devil: Honestly, I keep finding GOLD in this flick!

Okay, people, hear me out! I'm rewatching "She-Devil" AGAIN (yes, I know, I have a problem 😅), and I'm STILL picking up on new things. I think it's so underrated. Like, Meryl Streep is obviously amazing as Mary Fisher, the romance novelist...but Roseanne Barr?! She totally nails Ruth. It's not just the weight loss thing, it's the subtle bitterness and simmering rage she projects. Remember that scene where she's systematically destroying their house, room by room? Chilling, but also kinda cathartic, LOL. What I especially appreciate on this rewatch is how clever the writing is. It's not just a straight-up revenge story; it's a commentary on class, beauty standards, and the absurdity of the literary world. And Ed Begley Jr. is perfectly pathetic as Bob. Like, you almost feel sorry for him, until he opens his mouth again. Did anyone else notice how he almost always has food on his face? I think that's a deliberate choice to emphasize his slobbiness compared to the refined Mary. One thing I'm still kinda confused about is the ending. Does Ruth REALLY find happiness, or is it just another facade? I mean, she becomes a total boss lady but is she happy happy? I'm leaning toward bittersweet. But it has such a great 80s feel to it, I always feel good watching it. Anyway, just wanted to share my latest "She-Devil" obsession. Has anyone else seen it recently? What are your thoughts? Maybe it's time for a remake (though I'm scared to see someone attempt to fill those shoes) or maybe I'll just watch it again tomorrow lol.
