UHF - Okay, am I the only one who thinks this movie predicted the future?
Alright, action junkies and stunt nuts, lemme throw this out there. Anyone else remember "UHF" with Weird Al? I caught it again the other night on some late-night channel and man, it holds up way better than it has any right to. I mean, it's obviously a comedy, but the stuff they're satirizing about TV... it's basically YouTube and Twitch now, right? Seriously, think about it. All the random stuff, the DIY aesthetics, the utter lack of quality control... it's basically the internet in 1989 movie form. And the stunts! Okay, maybe stunts is a strong word, but that scene where Stanley Spadowski (Michael Richards - Kramer!) gets covered in bubble wrap and throws himself down the stairs? Pure gold, and I bet half the people on TikTok have tried something similar. What about that Rambo parody? Gold! Now, I know it's not exactly "Die Hard," but I'm not talking about explosions and car chases here. I'm talking about the raw, unbridled energy. It's like they were tapping into something before it even existed. I almost want to go back and find an old prop copy of Rambo First Blood Part 2 on VHS like they had in the movie now, hah. So, am I losing it, or did "UHF" accidentally predict the entire content creator economy? What's everyone's favorite random moment? I'm partial to Evil Bratt throwing the puppy out the window...
