Harry Crumb: More Than Just Slapstick - The COSTUMES!
Okay, so I just rewatched "Who's Harry Crumb?" after like, a million years and I forgot how ridiculous it is. Like, Jim Belushi is peak physical comedy, stumbling around in disguise after disguise. But you know what REALLY struck me this time around? The COSTUMES! They're so bad they're AMAZING. Seriously, somebody had a blast designing these get-ups. That aerobics instructor outfit? The old lady? Classic. What really sells it is how much they commit to the disguises. It's not just throwing on a wig; they really go all in with the accessories and makeup. The German professor look with the monocle and ridiculously bushy eyebrows? Chefs kiss. My favorite is when he's dressed as the butler - he just looks so out of place and uncomfortable but he sells it! The details are just so extra, it elevates the whole thing. I know the movie is silly and the plot's kinda... there, but honestly, it's a fun, light-hearted watch, especially if you appreciate over-the-top 80s fashion. I'm not saying it's a cinematic triumph, lol, but the costume department deserved some kind of award for how ridiculous they were. I always enjoy a movie that dares to be so wonderfully campy and doesn't take itself too seriously. Anyone else appreciate the commitment to the disguises in this movie or am I alone in my ridiculous appreciation? Thoughts?
