Okay, "The Seventh Continent"... WTF Was That?

So, I just finished watching "The Seventh Continent" (thanks, Criterion Channel, I guess?), and I'm... unsettled. Like, deeply, existentially unsettled. This movie is bleak. We're talking levels of bleak that make Ingmar Bergman look like a Disney animator. All that meticulous detail on their mundane lives, the aquarium fish swirling around... it's hypnotic, almost beautiful, but also so damn empty. Here's my half-baked theory: the 'seventh continent' isn't Antarctica (or Australia, which some people are saying). It's the void, the emotional wasteland this family creates for themselves. Remember that scene where they meticulously destroy all their possessions? That felt like a ritualistic cleansing, trying to erase any connection to the world, to feeling. And the way they just... do it. No screaming, no arguing, just methodical destruction. Brrr. I keep coming back to the daughter, Eva. She's clearly the most aware, or at least, the most sensitive to the nothingness surrounding them. The whole 'paralysis' thing... was that real, or a manifestation of her own desire to escape? Maybe she subconsciously willed it. It's like she's screaming inside, but nobody can hear her. That's the real horror, isn't it? The crushing weight of modern life turning people into automatons, craving an escape so extreme it's... annihilation. I'm not sure I liked it, but I can't stop thinking about it. This one's gonna stick with me, I think. Might need to watch a feel-good rom-com now to cleanse my palette. Anyone got recommendations? Preferably with talking animals and zero existential dread.
