"Miracle Mile": More Than Just a Nuclear Nightmare - Harry Was Already in Hell.

Okay, so I just re-watched Miracle Mile (yes, I'm aware of its flaws... no need to @ me!). And while it's a super tense, anxiety-inducing countdown to nuclear annihilation, I've got this theory buzzing around my head that's less about global politics and more about Harry's personal journey or, like, lack thereof. Hear me out. I think Harry (Anthony Edwards, forever Goose to me, even when he's losing his mind) was already living in a kind of personal hell before the phone call. Think about it: he's been searching for thirty years for the right woman, feels like he's finally met her, and then BOOM. I wonder if the phone call was just a catalyst, a physical manifestation of his internal anxieties. Like, it's not about whether WWIII ACTUALLY happens (though, yikes!), but about Harry's inability to truly connect and be happy. He's finally found the girl and the world ends? Seems kinda... pointed. And the way he clings to Julie (Mare Winningham)? It's almost desperate. And the whole journey they go on through the escalating chaos? It's like he's trying to force a lifetime's worth of love and connection into a single night. That final scene at La Brea Tar Pits... brutal, right? But maybe it's symbolic. Maybe Harry was always sinking, always destined to be swallowed up by his own fears and insecurities. I know it's a pretty bleak reading, but I think it makes the film way more emotionally resonant than just 'guy tries to save girl from nuke'. What do you guys think? Too dark or am I on to something? Maybe I just need to lay off the caffeine, lol.
