Swampy's Back (and Has Heather Locklear!) - How's It Hold Up?

Okay, so I re-watched "The Return of Swamp Thing" the other night. Man, this flick is pure 80s cheese, and I kinda love it for that. It's no "Creature From the Black Lagoon," let's be clear. But that's not necessarily a bad thing either This time around, Arcane's back, even more cartoonishly evil somehow, and now he's got a whole Creature Shoppe going on. I'm talking mutated poodle-things (seriously!) and other...questionable experiments. But the real draw, let's be honest, is Heather Locklear. She's running around in a white dress most of the time, getting gooed by Swamp Thing, and let me tell you, teenage me wasn't complaining. The chemistry between her and Dick Durock? Eh, not exactly Bogart and Bacall. More like Bogart and...a really friendly houseplant? But it works, dammit. And the dude playing Arcane's henchman, Gunn, is clearly having the time of his life. I mean, the special effects are...well, they're of their time. Think "Toxic Avenger" but with a slightly bigger budget. The plot? Paper thin. But there's a certain goofy charm to the whole thing. The way they ham it up, the ridiculous monsters...it's almost so bad it's good. Almost. I wouldn't put it in my top ten, or even top 50, but for a Friday night when you just wanna switch your brain off, you could do a lot worse. Anyone else remember watching this back in the day? Or am I just showing my age (again)? What's your favorite ridiculous movie monster? I need some recommendations.
