Tremors: Rewatching This One Until the Graboids Get Me!
Okay, so I just finished another rewatch of Tremors, and I STILL find new stuff! I swear, it's like a gift that keeps on giving. This time, I was really focusing on Melvin Plug. That kid is such a little jerk! But honestly, watching him being a brat kind of makes the tension even better, you know? Like, you're already stressed about the Graboids, and then you have to deal with Melvin trying to sell you insurance or whatever. Comedy gold! I also noticed how subtly Rhonda LeBeck, the seismology grad student, keeps trying to explain the science of everything. Everyone just kind of brushes it off, but she's really trying to help! It's like, "Earthquakes?! How about GIANT MAN-EATING WORMS?!" Poor girl. And the shot where Val lassoes the Graboid to the bulldozer... I die laughing every time. Kevin Bacon was such a babe back then. One thing that always bugs me though, is the ending. Like, did they ever figure out where the Graboids came from? Did they ever properly clean up all the goo and guts? I need a sequel that answers those questions! (Other than the ones that already exist of course!) Seriously though, if you haven't watched Tremors recently, or ever (gasp!), you need to. It's just plain fun. And also, maybe don't walk on the sand for while... just in case. Oh, and one last thing! Did anyone else notice how many times they almost call each other out on their obvious crushes? Val and Rhonda, Earl and Rhonda... the sexual tension is low-key HILARIOUS. Okay, I'm done now. For this week anyway...
