Rocky V... Okay, Let's Talk About It
Okay, so last night me and the crew finally got around to watching Rocky V. I'd heard... things. And yeah, it's definitely... different. Like, after the whole Cold War thing in Rocky IV, to see Rocky back in Philly being broke again felt like a real letdown. I get that they were going for a 'back to basics' kinda thing, but did they have to make it so depressing? Like Adrian having a breakdown and them losing all their money?! Ouch. Tommy Gunn, ugh, that whole storyline. I kinda saw where they were going with it - Rocky passing on his knowledge - but Tommy just came across as a total jerk. And Duke being the manipulative promoter... it all felt a bit forced, y'know? What did everyone think of the street fight at the end? It was kinda cool to see Rocky back to his roots, brawling in the streets, but it also felt kinda... sad? Like, is this how this legendary boxer's story ends, fighting on the sidewalk? But tbh, I did like the whole Rocky/Little Marie dynamic. That was sweet. And seeing Rocky train Tommy, even though Tommy was a total ingrate, there were some good moments there, right? IDK. I'm so conflicted. It's not the worst movie ever, but it's definitely not one I'll be rushing to re-watch. So, what are your hot takes? Did anyone actually enjoy Rocky V? And if so, please explain yourselves! LOL. What did you think of Sage Stallone as Rocky Jr.?! It felt kind of awkward, didn't it?
