Rocky V... Did They DO Rocky Dirty?
Okay, so I just rewatched Rocky V... and I'm still kinda salty about it, tbh. I know, I know, it's like, the black sheep of the Rocky fam. But hear me out! Like, after everything Rocky went through, all the battles, both in the ring and in his personal life, to have him lose all his money because of some shady accountant? And then the whole thing with Tommy Gunn... it just felt so... cheap? I get that it's supposed to be about him finding his purpose in training someone else, but the way they wrote Tommy just made me so frustrated. He was just a plot device to make Rocky look good, and it made me feel like Rocky's achievements were being undermined a bit. I also feel like Talia Shire wasn't given enough to do in this one, and that's a crime because Adrian is a powerhouse. Don't get me wrong, I still cried at the end when Rocky finally takes down Tommy in a street fight. That raw emotion, him fighting for his pride and his name... it still gets me. But like, did anyone else feel like this movie kinda did Rocky dirty? Like his arc deserved better than a slimy manager, a protege with a bad 'do, and a street brawl? I really want to see if others felt like I did back then, or if it's just me.
