"Kindergarten Cop" - Underappreciated Action Comedy Gem?

Alright, alright, settle down class! Mikecinema here, back with another flick that's been bouncing around my brain. This time it's "Kindergarten Cop." Now, I know what you're thinking: Arnold Schwarzenegger in a classroom with a bunch of rugrats? Sounds cheesy. And yeah, it IS cheesy, but that's part of its charm! I honestly think it's a supremely underappreciated action-comedy. Hear me out. The action isn't exactly "Die Hard," but consider this: Arnold is actually doing a good bit of his own stunts! The hand-to-hand in the school, the climactic shootout – it's solid work for a comedy. And for the time, it was well done. They didn't overly rely on CGI or crazy wire work, it sells the danger! The scene that gets me everytime is the chase scene where Arnold's character Kimble confronts Cullen Crisp, the drug dealer. The sheer energy and chaos of the classroom combined with the seriousness of the situation hits the perfect comedic blend. It's a great showcase of how practical effects and well-timed performances can elevate even a silly premise. My theory? "Kindergarten Cop" works because it leans into the absurdity of the situation. It doesn't try to be something it's not. It's a fun, action-packed comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's why it holds up. Plus, those kids are surprisingly good actors! What ever happened to those kids?
