RoboCop 2: So much potential, so much...ow.

Okay, so I finally got around to watching RoboCop 2. Whew. Where do I even begin? The first one is, like, a legit classic, right? This one... it's a LOT. Like, a 'try-hard' lot. I get what they were going for, amping up the social commentary and the violence. But sometimes I wonder if they were just trying to gross me out. That brain surgery scene with Cain? I'm still shuddering! Seriously, I almost hurled my popcorn. It's not even the gore, it's the idea of it. Shivers! I wanted to love it, I really did. RoboCop is such a tragic figure, you know? Trapped in this metal body, still fighting for justice. But this movie... it just made me sad. It felt like it was trying too hard to be edgy, and it lost some of the heart that made the first one special. I did like the concept of RoboCop having all those directives fighting each other, tho. When he was spewing out random slogan, I actually laughed out loud. And the new RoboCop 2 villain? Cain was definitely creepy, especially after his brain got shoved into that massive robot body. But was he as impactful as Clarence Boddicker? I don't know. I think what bothered me was the overall tone. It felt meaner, less... human, despite all the chaos happening around RoboCop's humanity. Maybe I'm just being sensitive but I feel like I'm gonna need a feel-good movie after this one. Any recommendations? Okay, gotta go bleach my brain (not literally, lol!). Let me know what YOU thought of RoboCop 2! Am I totally off base here?
