Wild at Heart: Is this Lynch's MOST bonkers movie?!

Okay, horror hounds and thriller freaks, let's talk about Wild at Heart. I just rewatched it, and I honestly think it might be Lynch's craziest joint, and that's SAYING something, right? Sailor and Lula's love is like, so intense and weird, but the stuff that surrounds them is NEXT LEVEL messed up. Like, the whole thing feels like a fever dream fueled by Elvis and pure, uncut, Americana nightmare fuel. I'm obsessed with Diane Ladd in this. She's absolutely terrifying as Lula's mom. But Nicolas Cage... I don't know, sometimes I think he's perfectly cast as Sailor, with that sort of off-kilter charisma. Other times, I'm like, 'Dude, tone it down a notch!' The scene where he sings Elvis covers is iconic tho, no doubt. And what about Willem Dafoe as Bobby Peru?! GAHHH, he's so sleazy and unsettling. This movie has a serious collection of creeps. Anyway, here's my question for you all: Does anyone else think that the ending is kind of... unsatisfying? I get that it's supposed to be uplifting, with Sailor returning to Lula and their kid, blah blah blah, but after all the violence and craziness, it felt almost TOO neat and tidy. Like, did Lynch chicken out at the last minute or what? I almost wish they didn't make it, but now I need to know what y'all think!
