Flatliners: Is it just me, or are the 90s scrubs iconic?
Okay, so I just re-watched "Flatliners" and I'm totally obsessed with the aesthetic, but specifically the costuming. I know it's a movie about playing with death and all that jazz, but seriously, the scrubs! The oversized, slightly faded teal? chef's kiss It's a vibe. Kiefer Sutherland's Nelson in particular always looked so effortlessly cool, even when he was freaking out about… y’know… things. And then there's Julia Roberts’ character, Rachel. Remember that simple black turtleneck she wears in, I think, the scene where she's talking to Sutherland in his apartment after his second 'flatline'? Total freaking power move. Even just hanging out, she's got this understated chicness going on. It's totally 90s minimalism done right. It actually made a real impression on me, even as a little kid. I've got one pretty similar in my closet. I think what I liked most is that even though it’s set in a hospital, the fashion doesn’t feel overly sterile or boring, if that makes sense like it did in other medical dramas. The way they're dressed gave you a peek into their personalities, even when they're wearing scrubs, which is pretty clever costuming, IMO. Did anyone else notice this, or am I just reading too much into glorified hospital attire? Let me know your thoughts! Also, quick q – did anyone else think the ending was weird and kinda abrupt? I felt like they just decided to wrap it up real quick lol.
