Wallace & Gromit's Lunar Cheese Trip: Better than 'Destination Moon'?

Alright, fellow film geeks. I just re-watched "A Grand Day Out" and it still cracks me up. Okay, full disclosure, I'm a sucker for stop-motion... probably because it reminds me of the Rankin/Bass holiday specials I grew up on. But Wallace and Gromit? These guys are next level. So, my question is: does anyone else get a similar vibe from this short as the old scifi flicks? Like, remember 'Destination Moon' (1950)? The way they make space travel seem all... well, grand, but also kinda clunky? Wallace building his rocket out of cardboard boxes and whatnot? Pure gold. I mean, the animation is obviously way different, but that innocent, optimistic view of space exploration... it's kinda the same, right? Maybe that's just me showing my age. And can we talk about the robot chef? That little guy is genuinely menacing! Reminds me of some of the more quirky villains you'd see in old Twilight Zone episodes, except, you know, obsessed with cheese. Ha! Seriously though, thinking about it, "A Grand Day Out" is like a distilled version of everything I loved about growing up. Simple animation, goofy humor, and a healthy dose of British eccentricity. Is it just nostalgia talking or is this thing truly timeless? Was this groundbreaking at all? I mean, I was a kid when this came out so I don't remember how ground breaking it was, if at all. Anyway, just curious what you guys think. Am I overthinking this cheese-fueled lunar adventure, or is there something more to it than just claymation shenanigans? Let me know!
