Anyone else low-key traumatized by Problem Child as a kid?

Okay, so I was flipping channels at like 3 am (as one does) and landed on Problem Child. I haven't seen that movie in YEARS. Like, since it actually came out! I remember being a kid and thinking Junior was hilarious, but watching it now... dude is seriously messed up! The cat catapult scene? The birthday party massacre? And the whole camping trip with Martin Short's character? OMG. I feel like that movie glossed over some serious psychological issues. Don't get me wrong, I still laughed. Michael Oliver (Junior) was surprisingly good at being a little demon. But like, seriously, Ben (John Ritter) and Flo (Amy Yasbeck) just kinda shrugged everything off? Did no one consider like, therapy? Or maybe just giving him back to the nuns? Seriously, that scene where he swaps out the baseballs with golf balls... savage. So, my question is this: Did anyone else have a weirdly complicated relationship with this movie? Like, you knew it was kinda wrong, but also... you couldn't look away? I feel like there's some deep, dark comedy lurking beneath all the slapstick. And honestly, was Martin Short's bowler hat character supposed to be that creepy? I'm pretty sure he's the reason I was afraid of clowns until I was like, 16. Just sayin'.
