"Taking Off" - Hilariously Awkward and Totally Underrated?

Okay, so I just watched "Taking Off" (1971) and I am *dying*. Like, this has to be one of the most awkward yet strangely endearing movies I've seen in a WHILE. It's about these parents, the Tynes, whose daughter runs away, and their desperate (and often spectacularly failing) attempts to find her. Honestly, their journey is basically a crash course in 'how *not* to be a parent.' But what really got me was the whole support group thing for parents of runaways. The scene where they are all learning to smoke pot? I almost spit out my drink. And the whole stripping game with the song? OMG. It's so cringe, but somehow, also so human? I'm still trying to process if it's supposed to be funny or sad or both! Seriously, has anyone else seen this movie? Am I missing something? Does anyone else think the Tynes are the most relatable clueless parents ever put on film? And WHAT was up with the casting of Linnea Heacock? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
