Bardock Special: Time Travel Plot Hole... or Hidden Genius?
Okay, so I just rewatched "Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku" (yeah, the title's a mouthful) and I'm CONVINCED there's more going on than just a straightforward 'Saiyan father sees tragic future' story. I've always been kinda bothered by how Bardock gets his visions after he gets thwacked by that alien chap; it just seemed… too convenient? What if it's not just some random psychic ability, but actually a messed-up, early form of time travel subtly woven in? Think about it: Frieza's actions are ultimately driven by a paranoia about the Super Saiyan prophecy. Bardock's visions push him to actively fight against Frieza, ultimately delaying (but not preventing) Planet Vegeta's destruction. What if Bardock's actions inadvertently created an alternate timeline where Goku doesn't land on Earth, or where the Saiyans pose a bigger threat later on? Frieza, being the paranoid space emperor he is, might have tapped into some early, unreliable temporal tech to try and PREVENT this alternate future, and Bardock just got caught in the shrapnel of that. It would explain why the visions are so vivid and insistent—they're not just warnings, they're glimpses of a POSSIBLE future that Frieza's meddling with! Admittedly, it's a bit of a stretch, and the animation doesn't really support this granular level, but I think it adds a cool layer to the whole 'doomed father' narrative if we interpret it that way. It kinda retroactively makes Frieza's fear more justified and Bardock's fight more strategically important. Plus, the whole idea of temporal interference opens up so many possibilities down the line! What are your thoughts, any other weird theories about this one?
