Hard to Kill (Van Damme Era... almost)

Alright guys, just re-watched "Hard to Kill" (1990). Straight up 90s action flick. Steven Seagal at his, uh, "finest". Let's be real, nobody's coming to this for the acting, but I gotta say, it kinda holds up for what it is. From an editing perspective, the opening sequence is really efficient setting up Mason Storm (love the name) as this renegade cop who's already got enemies. The attack scene is brutal and gets the revenge plot cooking fast. What I genuinely appreciate is how they handled the coma. Could have been a total drag, but the training montage is surprisingly effective, even if it's cheesy. They didn't waste time with unnecessary exposition. It just sets up the third act payoff. Now, the final showdown? Classic. Seagal gets to be Seagal-y, breaking limbs and delivering one-liners. It's predictable, sure, but damn if it isn't satisfying, especially with the reveal of the corrupt politician being behind it all. One minor gripe: I thought the pacing sagged just a bit in the middle of the second act, could've used a trim here and there. But overall, a solid actioner if you're in the mood for some pure, unadulterated 90s ridiculousness. What do yall think? Am I just blinded by nostalgia?
