Leatherface 3 - Is This One ACTUALLY Good... or Just My Type?
Okay, so I just finished watching Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (the one from 1990). I'm new to all this, remember? Slowly working my way through the horror classics. I've heard some REALLY mixed things on this one. Some say it's garbage, some kinda like it ironically, and some actually defend it. I'm leaning towards liking it? But I'm not sure if I'm just easily impressed, lol. I definitely thought the whole 'California couple stranded thing' was a decent starting point, even if it's a trope. Joe Unger as Tinker was CREEPY. And the whole survivalist dude, Benny, was kinda cool, right? Super 90s. But I'm genuinely curious what others think about Leatherface's look in this one. To me, he actually looks scary? More menacing than what I've seen in bits of the original. Maybe it's just Jeff Burr's direction, but I think that makes the movie. I suppose you could say he put some extra love into it. The Sawyer house was pretty damn nasty, by the way. Specifically, that part where Leatherface is like, carving his initials into Michelle's leg? That actually got to me, and that's rare. Is there anything PARTICULARLY wrong with this movie? Or is it just that it's super different from the original and people were expecting something else? Did I perhaps get jebaited into thinking it's a terrible movie? Because I don't think it is! It has some scares, a cool villain, and some good gore. So, what are your honest thoughts? Am I crazy, or is this one actually... well, maybe not good, but definitely entertaining? Is it just the nostalgia goggles talking for the people that defend it? Let me know!
