Death Warrant: Okay, Hear Me Out...Kinda Mind-Blown?

Okay, so I watched 'Death Warrant' last night. I went in completely blind, and HOLY CRAP, did it deliver some unexpected emotional punches! Like, I knew it was gonna be a prison action flick with Jean-Claude Van Damme (bless his mullet), but I wasn't expecting to actually FEEL things, you know? The whole thing with him going undercover as a prisoner to investigate the murders...the claustrophobia, the brutality...I was on edge the whole time. Like, my anxiety was through the roof. Does anyone else get super stressed watching prison movies? I swear, my heart rate went up like 20 bpm. Seriously, the amount of times I yelled at the screen 'Burke, just kick their butt!' was unreal. But here's my theory, and stick with me because it's a bit of a reach maybe...but what if EVERYTHING in the prison was designed to trigger some sort of PTSD in Burke? I mean, the violence, the constant threat of death, the betrayal...it's like they were intentionally trying to break him. Remember that scene when he's fighting the 'Sandman'? That felt personal, like it wasn't just a random fight, but some crazy orchestrated test. I almost cried there! And then the whole reveal of the villain? I won't spoil it, but let's just say it felt a bit...forced? Like, the plot was good but how they revealed it I got sort of confused! I think they could have done a better job foreshadowing it, or maybe deepening the psychological aspect of it. But overall, even with its flaws, 'Death Warrant' surprised me. It's not gonna win any awards for Best Picture, but it definitely gave me something to think about...and maybe need some therapy after witnessing all that prison craziness. What do you guys think? Am I onto something, or just overthinking a Van Damme action movie? Be nice, okay?!
