3 Men and a Little Lady - Anyone else think the sound effects were kinda... off?

Okay, so I just re-watched "3 Men and a Little Lady" (guilty pleasure, sue me!). It's a pretty predictable but heartwarming movie, right? But something kept nagging at me this time around - the sound design felt...weird in places. Like, during the more 'comedic' bits, the exaggerated sound effects felt really out of sync with the visuals. Anyone else pick up on that? Maybe it's just aged poorly, idk. Specifically, there's this scene where Peter (Tom Selleck) is trying to change Mary's diaper and keeps getting everything wrong. The slapstick sound effects - the squishing, the baby babbling, the general chaos - felt way too loud and over-the-top. It's like they were trying too hard to make it funny, and it actually detracted from the humor. I get it, it's supposed to be silly, but the sound felt like a caricature of real-life sounds instead of an enhancement. Maybe I'm just being overly critical. Also, the music cues felt super dated, even for 1990. Like, overly saccharine string melodies during the 'emotional' moments. It kinda felt like what you'd hear in a commercial. Did anyone else find the sound design distracting or just me? I still love the movie overall, don't get me wrong! It's got that classic late-80s/early-90s vibe I kinda crave sometimes. But audio-wise, especially compared to some other films from that era, it felt... lacking. Maybe I just need to lower my expectations. What are your thoughts?
