Quigley Down Under: Action Western or Forgotten Gem?

Okay, horror girl stepping WAY outside her comfort zone here, but I just rewatched "Quigley Down Under" after like, a decade? I remember LOVING it as a kid, mostly because of Tom Selleck being ridiculously cool (and hot, let's be real). But watching it now, I'm kinda wondering what everyone else thinks of it. Is it just nostalgia goggles making me think it's a decent action western, or is there something genuinely good about it that I'm missing? I mean, the basic plot is pretty straightforward – American sharpshooter goes to Australia, gets tricked into hunting Aborigines instead of dingoes, has a crisis of conscience. And the shootouts are fun, sure. But the whole treatment of the Aborigines felt... I don't know, kinda simplified? Like, it's clearly trying to be respectful, but it also skirts around the real complexities of the situation. The scene where Quigley learns the truth, finding them being hunted, is powerful, but that's a single scene. So, my question is: does the good (Selleck's performance, the beautiful scenery, the action) outweigh the maybe problematic elements? Did anyone else feel like it was trying to do too much, or not enough? And seriously, where do you put it in terms of other Westerns and Action movies? I'm genuinely curious about other people's takes on this one!
